What is a Community Grocery?
Bridging the gap between food banks and supermarkets, Community Grocery stores help keep families fed by providing access to affordable food and wrap-around support to those who need it.
Step inside a Community Grocery and you’ll find a full range of food, household, and toiletry options available for you to choose from at the fraction of the cost of your weekly shop.
But the Community Groceries are not just about food. In store you’ll find a range of free wrap-around support on offer for members, like mental health courses, money management support, English Language classes, employability courses and much more. There is no criteria for becoming a member, the Audacious Manchester Community Grocery is available to anyone who would benefit from this opportunity.

Opening weekly on a Tuesday – Thursday, we’re believing the Community Grocery is going to be an amazing resource for our community.
We’re here to bridge the gap between food banks and supermarkets — helping local households make their food shops more affordable, while also offering free on-site courses.
✨ Anyone can join for just £1 a year and start saving straight away by shopping multiple times a week.
🛒 We run on a points system, with shops starting from just £5 for 12 points, and most items costing only 1 point.
🌍 And the best part? Most of the food we distribute is surplus food, meaning you’re helping the environment and preventing good food from going to waste.

The Audacious Chester Community Grocery will be opening in November 2026. We will be open on Wednesday afternoons and Thursday evenings.
